Miss Ginger Loves: Vendula London Jewelry Bag

Hi everybody!

I am quite picky and difficult when it comes to choosing handbags and wallets. After all, it is something you carry daily, use a lot and needs to be comfortable to use. When it comes to this I say: bigger is better! I like big handbags that fit big wallets and lots of stuff! Basically I carry my life in my handbag! Next to that I like them to look different yet stylish. So when I came across Vendula London‘s bags and accessories you can imagine I fell in love!

Vendula London is a UK based brand that produces bags and accessories that are made from high quality faux-leather (you can’t even tell the difference by touch!), thus animal friendly, with beautiful unique designs. Their products are so well designed, so well thought of. They all have beautiful details and have room for everything you need.

IMG_6755 IMG_6756

As I said, I love big handbags. With this beauty, the Jewelry Shop Grabbag in Black and White I am covered!! The bag is really spacious (25cm(H) x 31cm(W) x 11cm(D)) and fits all your stuff (my life) easily. It has in total 6 interior pockets, including 2 smartphone pockets and two zipped pockets, and an exterior pocket. It comes with a detachable handle to wear your bag over your shoulder.

This is what Vendula says about the Jewelry shop bag:
Peek into the window of an exclusive West London jewelry boutique. Tiny pearls, diamonds and sparkling rubies are picked out in applique in a window framed by ribbon flowers, while the candy-stripe canopy opens to reveal a spacious flat-bottomed handbag, lined in our signature London frieze fabric, featuring the London Eye, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and other landmarks.

Turn the bag around to see a hidden sign with a distinctly British message.

Truth!! Diamonds are a girls best friend! Oh and dresses, and cats and… Anyway, this bag comes in many different styles, Florist, Tea room, Beauty salon, Cupcake shop, Shoe shop, Lingerie Shop, Café and Boutique, all representing a store just like my jewelry shop bag. They come in different sizes and colors as well. If you love this style as much as I do, be sure to check their website out. The Jewelry bag retails for 90EUR and they ship worldwide!

Lots of love,

Living, loving, dreaming…

Hello everybody,

As you may or may not have read before, at the moment I am living with my boyfriend in Spain. For the record; I am Dutch, he’s Spanish (lucky me!) and we had been in a long distance relationship for 2,5 years, and the 1st of May I made a trial move to be together for a while. So, I have been living here now for just over a month, and I’m slowly but surely settling in. It has been tough, from being a social butterfly having a very busy social life with friends and family, to being home alone a lot in a country where I don’t have so many people around me that I know. And I do this all for love. Because it’s worth it being able to fall asleep and to wake up next to my boyfriend every morning, being able to have a life together, something we have been dreaming of for a long time.

Basically our lives have been on hold for a while. We weren’t able to develop our relationship like we wanted, and like everybody will want at a certain moment. Since I work as a freelance opera singer, I have to opportunity to work all over the world, and we decided to take our chances and begin our lives.

My sister came to visit me over here for a long weekend and it was so wonderful being able to speak my own language, talk about girly things, have some drinks with her and go out together! We had a lot of conversations and one of them was about my life, about my move over here and my work. For me, even though it is and has been hard, it was such a logical step to make but she reminded me that what I am doing takes a lot of courage and guts. She told me how proud she was of me chasing after my dreams, doing what makes me happy and grabbing chances, since it is so easy to just be afraid of change and let life pass you by. She is right, and I want to share this with you.

All my life I have lived guided by my feelings and passions. My father always tells me that I never seem to take the easy way. I always need to do something extraordinary, passionate or exciting. I always chose for the rocky road, the fun road, even if this road would have potholes in it, would be 10 times longer or the trip would absolutely destroy me. I have done this in my studies, my jobs and even in my love life. I refuse to let anything I love or dream about be taken away from me because it would be more difficult or challenging than settling for something else that would be more convenient. I have always dreamt of being an opera singer, and I went to study at the conservatory, choosing a profession with a lot of uncertainties. I fell in love with a man that lived 1885 km away from me, yet I never thought about breaking up because of the distance…

It never really struck me as something to be proud of, because it was just so naturally for me, but hearing my sister tell me she admires that in me made me realize that I should be proud. I have decided to take the bull (haha!) by his horns and just do it, move to another country and quit your job even though it actually scares the heck out of me. And I hope that by reading this, you will become more aware of chances that life throws at you. Look at them as if these chances are meant to be. Don’t let fear of change, insecurity or the unknown stop you. Don’t think I wasn’t and aren’t afraid! Heck, I still am, but I refuse to let  it stop me from making me happy.

Keep this thought in the back of your head: what if certain things are meant to happen in your life, what if life throws opportunities at you because it has great plans for you? And I am talking about big events and small events here… This applies to so many things in your life! Being scared of going to a party because you hardly know anybody there. Maybe you will meet the love of your life there, or a soulmate, or some new friend that will enrich your life? You might come across a job application somewhere, your dreamjob, but you are hesitant to go for an interview because you fear you won’t fit in their profile, you are afraid of rejection… But what if you DO get this job, or what if you get a great insight of what you need in order to be able to do this job?

What I am trying to say is that there are opportunities everywhere. Teach yourself to see them, grab them and take them on. Who knows what it will bring you?

Lots of love, xoxo

Lookbook: Tatyana Vickie Dress in Green.

Hello everybody!

In the nip of time before the weather gets too warm and sunny to wear anything with longer sleeves I would like to show you the Vickie dress by Tatyana Clothing. For me this dress has been the absolute winter/autumn/spring favorite! Seriously you guys, this dress is amazing. You need this in your life.

The Vickie dress by Tatyana (formerly known as Bettie Page clothing) is this show stopping green colour of a dress in beautiful high quality knitted twill with three-quarter sleeves. It has a sewn on criss-cross belt that will accentuate your waistline (isn’t that what we want in ALL dresses?) and ties with a button in the back. I have the Vickie dress in this bottle green colour, but it also comes in red and black. Tatyana is one of my favorite brands because of the high quality and the amazing fit of their dresses. I can blindly buy an L in their styles and know it will fit like a dream.

Speaking about fit, just look how beautifully this dress flows. it fits perfectly around my thighs and hips. Even though it is such a simply dress, it is so versatile. Just simply styled like this, this dress gives me such a Joan Holloway feel, I just need a pen-necklace and the look would be complete! Here I have paired my dress with a pair of thick black tights since it was still quite cold outside.

IMG_3829I have these beautiful true vintage gloves that used to belong to my grandmother to go to church, they are white with a green leather rim, and they fit perfectly with the dress. Top it off with a classic pearl necklace and you have a more fancy look!

And if you would want to take it up a notch, adding this (FAKE) fur stole gives the ultimate old hollywood feel and look. This is also amazing for colder days or days you still would need a jacket but want to show your beautiful dress to the world!

Lots of love,

Miss Ginger Tulips ❤

Pin-up summer must haves!

Hello everybody!

Even though I am in Spain at the moment and for me summer has started already since I came here, I know that summer is about to burst out in The Netherlands, where I come from. So today I would like to share some summer items to complete your vintage look for the summer!

One of the first things you will think about when we talk about summer is going to the beach. And for that you of course need some vintage inspired swimwear to be in style! There is a great range of vintage inspired swimwear, even in the main street stores, since the high waisted bikini’s seem to be in fashion.
Me myself, I have a beautiful red polkadot swimsuit by Esther Williams. I have written a review on this beauty, you can read it here!  Esther Williams has some beautiful and high quality swimwear, they sell bikini’s as well as bathingsuits.

More and more brands are extending their range with swimwear. For example Hell Bunny has included a range of bikini’s and bathing suits in their latest collection. Like all things Hell Bunny, these are very budget proof! I have yet to try these on to see what their quality is, but I must say I wasn’t disappointed when I saw them on London Edge.

Summer dresses

For me, the ultimate summer wear are some breezy swing dresses. I have some pencil dresses that are summer dresses, but I tend to be most comfortable in swing dresses. And of course there are many to choose from out of the latest collections.

I’m absolutely in love with this pineapple dress by Banned!

And this strawberry dress by Collectif Clothing! ❤

I loooove to wear ballerina flats all summer long, but when it is really warm, I want to go for something that will feel a bit cooler on my feet. I don’t wear any heels (because mega tall) and I am still trying to find the perfect flat sandals I like enough to replace my ballerina flats, but there are plenty of options if you do want to go for something with a heel.

Check out BAIT, They have some amazing retro and vintage inspired shoes.

And I love Miss L Fire!

Hair flowers

I love to wear them all year through, but especially in summertime they give me an amazing boost to your hairstyle, having one or several flowers in your hair. I love how this can totally make you hair look amazing and hide some imperfections in the style. You can find these in a lot of main street stores like H&M, Claires and Accesorize, but if you want something special, there are a lot of amazing crafty ladies like Daisy Jean Floral Designs or Rosa Dior.

I love to wear hats! Not only because they look amazing but also because of my skin being like porcelain and risking sunburn when the sun is out! Luckily they are very easy to find. The more classic style can be found in stores like H&M, Accesorize, Six, Zara etc.

I hope this has given you some inspiration for the summer that is around the corner!

Lots of love, xoxox

Review: Voodoo Vixen Joni Dress

Hello everybody!

I have a confession to make… It happened again… I’m in love, and her name is Joni. She’s beautiful, stylish, comfortable to be around and everything you can wish for in a… dress. Including pockets!! ❤

You guys by now must know that I absolutely LOVE Voodoo Vixen. For me there is not a single brand I know that is so customer friendly and works along with bloggers and costumers like they do. I was so happy with the Joni dress Voodoo Vixen sent me, it made me do a little happy dance. I had spotted this dress already over at London Edge, and since then have been lusting over this beauty!

The fabric of the Joni dress has white anchors, polkadots and steering wheels on a beautiful navy blue background. What finishes the dress off beautifully are the embroidered lines across the belt, skirt and top. The little cap sleeves and the bust line create a super flattering top. As always with Voodoo Vixen, the fabric is made of a high quality cotton stretch, and the details are absolutely stunning! ❤

On the pictures for this review i am wearing a medium full petticoat, that fits perfectly under the dress, in spite of the skirt not being a full circle. Since I am in between sizes with Voodoo Vixen, I doubted between L or XL, but experience taught me that with the flared dresses, size down, with the pencil dresses, size up. I am wearing a size L in this particular dress and it fits like a glove. The matching belt is probably the first original belt I will use in a looong time. I am pretty hooked on my Hell Bunny elastic belts, but this belt is just so cute and perfect for the dress, they don’t stand a chance.

For you girls that like your pencil dresses, Voodoo Vixen has got you covered with their Gwyneth dress, that is the pencil dress version of the Joni dress. The Joni dress is available from size S to XL for EUR 62,49.

Lots of love,

xoxo Miss Ginger Tulips

Outfit review: Hell Bunny August Skirt with the Collectif Clothing Dolores Top. Courtesy of RockabillyBelle.com

Hi lovelies!

Today I would like to review this beautiful outfit courtesy of RockabillyBelle.com. I am actually more of a dresses kind of girl, than to wear separates, but this combination is so incredibly cute, I gladly make an exception. The August skirt by Hell Bunny has such a fun and summery print, reminding me of a sunny picnic under a cherry tree, sipping on some pink lemonade! At first glance, the August skirt seems quite the same as their Paula skirt, that comes in many different colors, but the difference is that this skirt is a tiny bit longer and has POCKETS!! Hooraaaaay for pockets! The skirt goes perfectly well paired with a petticoat. On the pictures I am wearing the skirt without, and it already looks quite full! Imagine the fabulousness with a petticoat! ❤

So I chose to pair this pretty picnic skirt with the Collectif Clothing Dolores top in red. Seriously you guys, I might have already said it a million times and I will again and again, the Dolores Tops are a true must have. So flattering, comfortable and cute! Like with the dress, the sleeves can we worn on- and off-shoulder. The sleeves have an elastic band to make sure that they will stay in place.

All and all this is such a fun outfit! The August skirt and the Dolores top are still at stock in most sizes for only EUR 34,95 a piece at RockabillyBelle.com, so if you love this outfit as much as I do, make sure you order them quickly! They ship worldwide! ❤

Review: Monica Dress by Pinup Girl Clothing

Hi everybody!

So here it is… My long overdue review of the dress of all dresses… The pièce de resistance of Pinup Girl Clothing, the va-va-voom-dress every pinup girl should own, her royal highness Monica. This dress has obtained a true pinup girl cult status over the years, and rightfully so might I say! I had been lusting over this dress forever… I finally went ahead and bought it, and I can’t believe I waited so long! If you are looking for a dress that will make heads turn, make you look and feel like a million bucks, has the comfort of your pajamas, break hearts and will be in style forever, Monica is your girl!

So what makes this dress so special? Like all PUG items, the quality is high and the designs are very well thought through. PUG overlord Laura Byrnes is responsible for this piece of art and oh my, should we be thankful for it. At the first touch, before even trying it on, you will feel the weight of the dress. Because there is a lot of fabric going into the dress. The outside is a draped fine knitted fabric, that will wave around your body and the inside has a bengaline shaper, that will hug your figure at the right places and correct and sculpt your figure where needed. It’s perfect for every size and every type of body, since it will form to your body and will always look amazing.

On the hanger, the Monica dress at first will look quite small, because of the bengaline shaper inside, but once you wiggle into it, it will become like second skin, and you won’t want to take it off! The dress comes with three-quarter sleeves that can be worn on- and off-shoulder. On the inside, around the neckline and shoulders there’s a plastic gummy like lining, like the ones you could find in a strapless bra, to keep the shoulders in place. This makes the dress ideal for wearing it with a normal bra, a strapless one or maybe none at all! For me the length is ideal! It comes all the way down to about a couple of centimeters under my knee, making it a very tall-chick-friendly dress!IMG_4732

I have bought the dress straight from the PUG website and following their size chart I was in between L and XL, but because of my bust advised to get an XL, so I did. Looking back I would have definitely sized down to an L, I feel it would have made an even better effect with the bengaline shaper. So if you are thinking of purchasing one, size down! 🙂 The Monica Dress comes in many colors and is one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever owned. So if you don’t mind investing in a dress knowing it will last a lifetime and you will love it forever I suggest you go buy one straight away!IMG_6116

Wear the damn dress! Be fabulous!

Hi everybody!

Today I would like to talk to you about something that is close to my heart and I was inspired to write about because of one of my FAV shows, RuPauls DragRace. If you don’t watch this, go do it! Now!! ❤
To me it is something I looked forward to every Tuesday (I know they air on monday, but I have to stream it!). So for you who don’t know the show, it is basically a competition to find the next Drag Queen superstar, where the contestants have to go through challenges in order to win a price and the title. The Queen of season 7 has been crowned by now, the season is over, what am I going to watch now…?

Anyway, I love art, fashion, artists, expressive and outspoken people, creativity… And this show just has it all. I especially loved this particular season because of a couple of the contestants had a style that was clearly very vintage inspired (There was even some Pinup Girl Clothing spotted!! <3) and made my heart beat fast and left me gasping for air several times. (Violet Chachki, Miss Fame and Pearl I LOVE YOU!!) To me, what these ladies do, transforming themselves with such dedication and expertise is complete art and so admirable.

And yes, I say ladies. Biologically we all know what it means to be a woman. But it goes so much further than that. Being a woman is also about the way you carry yourself, present yourself, about how you feel inside and what you want to be. I believe that people regardless of their gender should be able to call themselves or express themselves the way they want. Wether it is a transgender person, a drag queen, a drag king, male, female, whatever.

I have this huge admiration for anybody that dares to be themselves or whoever they want to be in this world that forces people more and more to become part of the mass, being the way they are supposed to be according to the standard and blending in with the crowd. I believe those people make the world a more beautiful place and they deserve just as much respect as people that do choose to be part of the standard. To each his or her own.

I so often hear from people how they admire the way I express myself through my style, that they love my outfits and how I dare to stand out of the crowd, but that they wouldn’t dare to. This can be because of response they might get or opinions that might be formed. That’s such a shame! Maybe it’s easier said than done for most people, but what is the big deal about being who you want to be and looking how you want to look? Are you really going to be held back from wearing something you LOVE because of other people forming an opinion about you? There will always be people judging, staring or forming an opinion, you can’t stop that. Don’t let this encourage you from being who and how you want to be. And looking from the other side, if you encounter somebody that looks out of the ordinary, give them the respect and dignity they deserve. Tell them when you think they look amazing, it will make their day, and just like your momma taught you, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. It would surely make the world a nicer place.

So what I am trying to say is that no matter who you are, what you are or how you look; do your thing, live your life, be kind to people, be happy, wear that lipstick! Look the way you want to! Don’t leave that amazing dress hanging in the closet, just waiting for a special occasion to happen… Life is short darling, you could die tomorrow, so wear the damn dress! Be FABULOUS!

Lots of love,

xoxo Miss Ginger Tulips

Review: Voodoo Vixen Karen Dress in Fruit Print

Hello there lovelies!

I owe you all a big apology! I have been away from posting for so long, I’m sorry you haven’t heard from me in such a while! I kind of have a god excuse though. I have moved to Spain for a couple of months, to be with my boyfriend, to try and build a life together. This of course has been quite hectic and stressful, but I am finally back in the saddle and plan to blog a lot more!

So here I am again! I’d like to review a gorgeous dress by Voodoo Vixen. Voodoo Vixen is this amazing brand with high quality dresses in middle range pricing. I have written about them before, I love the quality of their fabrics and their designs, they stay beautiful in the washing and the prints are so cute! ❤

When I visited London Edge last february, Voodoo Vixen had invited me to blog for them (find the whole story here) and got a close look into their upcoming collection, I immediately noticed this print! Its such a fresh and cute combination! Red and green, my favorites, can’t go wrong there!

The Karen dress is such a lovely little number, I LOVE the neckline with the little buttons and the little sleeves that can be worn on and off shoulder. It is such a flattering and sultry cut and makes me feel so pretty. As usual with Voodoo Vixen I wear a size XL, and its perfect. It hugs my figure in the right places, accommodates the boobies and is quite comfortable. And oh my god you guys, just look at this print. Apples, blossoms, butterflies and flowers, it doesn’t get any nicer than this.

The Karen dress originally comes with a bit medium sized fabric belt. Mmm… Never like those since they tend to crease a lot and don’t give me enough ‘oomph’ in matters of defining my waist, so I grab one of my trust Hell Bunny elastic belts, and it works like a charm.

Being a tall girl at 1.80m, the length of the dress just about comes to my knee. I generally like my dresses over the knee, but for a pencil dress this is not at all bad! This dress is absolutely a winner of you are looking for the ultimate summery pencil dress that shows off your curves! I love the way this dress makes my body look! ❤

Lots of love,

xoxo Miss Ginger Tulips
